Today's word of the day was inspired by the gloomy, rainy start to the week and Colson Whitehead's Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Underground Railroad, which tells the Odyssean tale of a slave's escape from bondage and raises questions about whether America can ever be as committed to the ideal of freedom for all as it is to manifest destiny.
